
The EuroHPC JU Selects Additional AI Factories to Strengthen Europe’s AI Leadership
March 12, 2025A Japanese business delegation, led by the Advisor to the Minister of Economy of Japan Takashi Mogi, visited Sofia Tech Park and was introduced to the priority areas for development and the activities of Bulgaria’s first science and technology park, as well as the business and academic services in the field of artificial intelligence provided by the Discoverer+ supercomputer.
The meeting took place at Sofia Tech Park and was attended by Executive Director Todor Mladenov, Board Member Natanail Stefanov, and Chief Operating Officer of “Petascale Supercomputer Bulgaria” Kiril Kirilov. The visit to the science and technology park was part of the official two-day parliamentary delegation program. The Japanese delegation, led by the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan Akihiro Nishio, consisted of around 50 representatives from leading Japanese technology companies.
During the visit, Todor Mladenov presented the main focus areas of Sofia Tech Park’s activities – information technologies, green energy, and life sciences – as well as the services offered to support startup companies and innovations. He emphasized that Sofia Tech Park is open to partnerships and cooperation in these technological areas, as well as for enhancing the connections with Bulgarian startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and potential business partners and investors.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Discoverer supercomputer, Kiril Kirilov, presented to the delegation the technical capabilities of the machine and the services for business provided by his team, as well as the development of the Bulgarian Artificial Intelligence Factory BRAIN++. The delegation also visited the building housing the Discoverer+.
